CMC University Hospital, Charlotte, NC

Challenge:

• Retrofit the occupied facility with no disruption to the healthcare environment, and expand the systems in the new Women’s Center addition

Scope:

• Design and program a new graphics package to give customer an open protocol platform and new energy savings strategies while utilizing the existing proprietary infrastructure
• Design and install a new fire alarm system and add a graphics workstation to allow for day-to-day operations and programming

Project Highlights:

• Installed open protocol system with custom graphics and energy savings strategies that gave instant control of the facility from any computer on the hospital network and trained hospital personnel how to utilize the system
• CMCU was the only hospital in North Carolina to earn the ENERGY STAR rating
• Installed new intelligent smoke detection devices to reduce false alarms
• Installed new audio/visual devices to alert staff to emergency situations
